How do you push the idea of being on another planet? How do you translate the feeling of being in another world? First, visit a remote place like Leslie Gulch in South Eastern Oregon. The volcanic rock is wildly featured and the gulches are created by surreal spires that reach like fingers to the sky. Since we see the world in color, I felt that grayscale helped express the feeling I had being in this outlandish landscape. Finally, these juxtaposed panels are fixed intentionally as a single image. The center image being flipped creates the "volcano" and completes the otherworldly vibe of Leslie Gulch. | Leslie Gulch, Southeastern Oregon
