Up high in Miter Basin in the High Sierra, I stumbled upon this massive chiseled block. Boulders are strewn across the basin like marbles thrown haphazardly by a giant hand. Ancient glaciers carved this basin along with its surrounding horseshoe shaped cirques while dropping these spectacular formations of rock. The background and sky are hazy with a subtle veil of white from a nearby wildfire. This allows the landscape of rock in the foreground to come forward in a three dimensional way and creates soft color and contrast. Absolutely one of the most gorgeous places on earth to meander.
